    Hi,

I am just going through the same problem. If you have a Passat you will need to check your Comfort control Module- this controls most of your interior electrics and is a nightmare if it gets wet. It is situated in a black box beneath the carpet in the front passenger side footwell. Mine was completely knackered and I am in the process of drying out the carpets with a Vax and a dehumidifier and trying to get a replacement module. The cause is probably blocked drainage holes beneath the battery see www.weirdlittlebiscuit.com/passat/leak

    Hope this helps
    Brian
