Hello. I purchased a new gaiter for my car as the previous one is badly worn. Any ideas on how I remove the old one without destroying anything?

Hi, i think he its talking about the gearbox shift lever. All it's needed is to unscrew the knob and unclip the old one and just slide the new one over .

Sorry - was very cryptic. I meant the gear lever gaiter. I bought a rather nifty leather one, but no instructions

Ok, Ive replaced mine as it was rather tired looking.

Heres the rundown of removal and refitment.

Just in front of the handbrake button is a smooth black square, its mounted vertically.

Prise this off carefully from the top with a screwdriver.
Undo the nut that is now visible.
The gearlever gaiter plastic surround along with the gaiter should be able to be lifted upwards from the handbrake end....

Unscrew the gearknob and then lift off the surround and gaiter.
Unscrew the plastic sleeve that slides over the gearlever shaft and transfer it to the new gaiter.
Unscrew the surround from the gaiter material and replace with new one.
The rest is just in reverse of the above.

    Hope this helps.

    Mark

    Hope this helps
