I've just bought an A4 Avant 2.0 FSI on a 53 plate. Just wondering what the service interval should be. It's done 40,000 miles and had stamps at 18k and 36k.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Jim,

If its on a long life service its 2 years or 20k miles... if on standard varible, it tends to be 1 year or 10k depending what comes first..

Just to let you know the cambelt is due at 60k.

    Rick

    many thanks Rick

I think I need to do some research because I don't know the difference between the types of service. I've had BMW's with their Inspections I and II, Renault with 18,000 mile intervals (too long IMO) and Ford with what I call Ready Salted servicing.

and thanks for the cambelt reminder. It's 100k on my Focus!

The only differance with the service is the long life has a bigger oil filter and use a long life oil for 2 years or 20k miles.. ... compared to the standard of around 10-12k filter with a standard 10/40 Semi oil..

I have been using long life parts but service on the varible as i do it myself..

Out of interest how do you fit a bigger oil filter when its a catridge based filter?

Long life oil I can understand.

Also I'm the same as you, Long life oil but fixed service. I've changed my oil at 6,000 miles as I hadn't done many miles this year as I use my bike aswell.
A4 Avant 1.9 TDi160 for when the weather is on the damp side - Sold after 9yrs. Now A5 3.0TDI Q Sport Coupe (310bhp/480ft/lbs - Yamaha R6 for when its dry and want some 'High octane Petrol' fun.
