Ok so... I have a 99 Passat 1.8 turbo. it has 89,000 miles. It has ran great since i have owned it however here is the problem i am experiencing. I was on low fuel so i stopped at a new gas station that i have never stopped at before and put $20 in. I drove about 2 hours and parked the car and it had ran fine for those two hours. I got back in the car later that day and it began to sputter and was extremely hesitant to accelerate. The check engine light came on, i immediately checked the oil. It was pretty low but not out, i put some in to be sure it had plenty. I continued driving at a top speed of 10-20 mph. the car eventually shut off completely. If i shut the car off and restarted about 15 minutes later it would drive at a decent speed for a few miles then the same problem would return, the check engine light stays on at times, then other times it will go off for a few minutes. could this be a motor issue because the oil was low or does this sound like a fuel problem. and are there any quick checks i could do to find out if it is fuel? I looked in the manual under fuel filter and it says fuel filters are on deisel models only? Is this true, do the gas passats not have fuel filters? any help is appreciated, thanks everyone
