Button handbrake noise!

To anyone who have a New passat.

Do you get a grinding noise whenever you put on the button brake?

My started to make that noise and i just wonder if this is normal?

It does seem to be the way it works. I sent mine in as I was concerned about the horrible sound it made, but I was told that that was normal.

If you think about it Frank, with a traditional handbrake, where you pull the lever, you are pulling on a mechanical link and thereby you are doing all the work. With the electronic handbrake, it's exactly that: electronic. So in other words, there's a motor that is whirring away in order to engage/disengage the brake.

Youhave a point there. I have made enquiries about it and that is suppose to be quite normal.
Its just ashame, because with all this modern technology you would
have though they can make a motor much quieter!"!?
