    Hi,

Can anybody help, i'm all out of ideas?

My Polo 1.4 (AEX engine not 16v) is idling roughly and very down on power and up on fuel consumption. If I remove the plug leads on cyclinders 2 and 4 it makes virtually no difference to the idle speed at all. It seems to be running on about 2 cylinders quite amazingly.

I've checked and cleaned the throttle body.
Replaced HT leads, checked cap and rotor.
Had it plugged in to the diagnostics and it reports no faults.
Looked around for air leaks and found none.

Its done 48K so i'd be surprised if valves are burnt out already. If anyone has any suggestions i'd be very grateful

    Thanks a lot,

    Will.

Have a compression test done but that isn't the version prone to burning valves. Have you replaced the plugs?

    Hi,

Yes I changed the plugs as a first step, forgot to mention that. I'll try and get the compression test done tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Will.
