Hi I have a 1997 A4 1.9 Tdi and I'm having some problems with my windscreen misting up.

I don't have manual controls its got a digital climate control and when put on the hottest setting hot air will pass through the vents but only when I'm travelling at speed and not when stationary, there seems to be no pressure coming from the motor. This is not an intermittent problem its always like this. Could it simply be a blockage or something?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this, cheers.

Does sound very much like the variable speed fan has failed.

Check the fuse to make sure that it has not just blown.

I know you get some air through at speed, but also check that the pollen filter has been replaced recently, as this will also put an additional strin on a new fan, if you have to fit one.

If you can get someone to scan your car with VAG-COM, this may reveal a fault code pointing to the fan or similar.
