I have just brought a Polo gti 2 weeks ago but unfortunatly last night the clutch went. I just need an idea of how bad it is if poss.

When the engine is on it is nearly impossible to get into gear, making the car undrivable but when the engine is off it goes into gear perfectly. While the engine is on, the only gear it will go into is reverse but crunch's really loud. When i first got the car the clutch was stiff & used to creak when used but now it is loose and no longer creak's.

I have only had the car 2 weeks so was not really expecting this. Is it just the clutch cable that has gone or is it the whole clutch system???

    Help Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

    xx

    hi Kelly

i bought a 2000 polo gti last october and 4 weeks after owning the car i had the same probs with clutch. i had it replaced along with cam belt change. after that it was difficult to get in 1st gear unless i went into 2nd then upto 1st.
to top it all just before xmas the gearbox went now i am waiting for a reply from my mechanic with what he wants to do ie. recon gearbox as he has had the car nearly 3 weeks now.

therefore i think you will need a new clutch.

The 6N2 Polo GTI is really prone to box and clutch problems. I agree that by the sound of it you need a new clutch and from VW these are quite reasonable and carry a two year guarantee.
