    Hi all

Does any one know how to program new ignition keys into an Audi A6 ( 2000 model W reg) or is it a dealer only process?

    Thanks

KEY PROGRAMiNG: NOTE-obtain and program all keys! (max4 keys at a time !). Switch ignition on. Use key not fitted with remote control. Manually lock driver's door using key. Complete the following within 30 seconds. Within 5 seconds press UNLOCK button on first key once(programs memory position 1). Wait 5 seconds.Press unlock button once to confirm programming. Vehicle unlocks. Programming mode deactivated. Switch ignition off. Remove key. To program remaining keys into memory 2,3 and 4, carry out the complete procedure below for each key. Switch ignition ON, Use key not fitted with remote control, manually lock driver's door using key, within 5 seconds press UNLOCK button at 1 second interval as follows: TWICE for memory position 2(second key), THREE times for memory position 3(3rd key), FOUR times for memory position 4. Indicators lamp flash once every time UNLOCK button is pressed, to indicate signal received. WAIT 5 seconds. Press UNLOCK button once to confirm programing. Vehicle unlocks. Programing mode deactivated. Switch ignition OFF and REMOVE key. NOTE: ignition must be switched off between each key programing procedure. Please follow as instructed and it should work. Its MUCH EASIER to do with vag-com but you need a valid login code for immobiliser. Hope this helps. Regards, Johann.

hi johann. would this procedure be the same for many models/years.I've just had 2002 a4 avant sport key coded by dealer as only 1 supplied with car 3 mths ago. I have vagcom but no login code.Would the same procedure apply?
    Good info if it does

Nope, that works with cars with immo2. Newer cars can be only programmed with diagnostic equipment. You will need a program like Vag Dash to help programm the immo to recognize the transponder in the new key(s).

An old thread, but seems relevent to me to ask a question. I want to add a spare key, but I don't have a key without remote. So I can't follow the instructions by adamss24 which says to use a key without remote to get the programming of the new transponder done.

Does anyone know how critical it is to use a non remote key? Or, is there a way to reprogram without a non remote key? I would say I've got a model with "immo2"

There are options, of course the easiest and most expensive is the dealer or an Audi specialist garage, though we are talking several hundred pounds! Your car will be similar to mine so we are in luck and a cheaper DIY solution is possible.

My keys have HAA imprinted on them, so I got this blank transponder key from here as I already have two remote keys, I wanted a smaller spare to keep in my wallet:

Now I've got the key I need to have it cut, which I think can be done at key cutters kiosk, then the transponder need to be programmed. From what I gather the key cutter may be able to do this, for a price, or might be able to do it myself, but see my last question regarding this. Still wondering if it can be done on the car, by using an original remote key.

By far the cheapest way is AUTO LOCKSMITH ASSOCIATION - THE EXPERTS
but expect to pay £150+ if you have lost all your keys
