    Hi,

I have a 1998 golf 1.9 tdi. My battery was faulty so i bought a new battery, tried fitting it my self. it was a mission because i ddint have all the tools. Also to point out my car was disconnected from the battery over night, as it got dark n i couldnt finish the job. Now that i have installed the new battery the exclamation mark (brake light i guess) beeps after i drive for 10 yards n keeps flashing. any dieas what went wrong? it wasnt there before.

but i had my abs light on all the time. i got it checked out the garage said it was my passenger sidfde sensor needs changing. thought might be connected

It is a double warning, get the ABS fixed and it will go away.

Odd. Get a fault code read done again to see which sensor is playing up.

Maybe you have drove those 10 yards with handbrake lever at least first tooth. When you stoped the car, the exclamation light remaining "on", or flashing ?

    Sorry for my poor english!

Thanks for this, just bought a mk4 and put a new battery in it. Brake light kept flashing and ABS was on. Dreading having to take it in to the garage with visions of big bills etc. Quick search on this forum and found this post. 5 mins later i had found a loose connection on the connector block on top of the battery and the problem was fixed. Many thanks for posting your findings.
