I have an audi A6, just had belts replaced, but after a few hundred miles main ribbed belt came off, eventually got it back on , then came off again. noticed tensioner isnt lined up with other pulleys, does anyone know a way of aligning the tensioner, it feels secure enough and the pulley bearings are Fine
looks an awkward job to remove, I would be grateful for any advice

Just buy a new tensioner and belt and fit them back on. There is no way to realign the tensioner, there is a thick spring inside that you wont be able to recompress back once you take off the bolt and split the tensioner in pieces.
