    Hello,

This is my first post and i have just bought my first VW car being a 2004 Passat 130 tdi sport. I was wondering if VW do a parked car heating system for the passat that allows you to heat the car before driving, allowing the windows to be de-frosted and cutting down o engine wear on those icey mornings. I used to own a BMW 525d se and you could get the kit fitted from the dealers for £500.

If anyone knows if there is such a thing for the VW could you let us know.

    Cheers.

Don't know if VW do one but a firm called Eberspachter (spelling?) do, it's pretty popular amongst Land Rover owners for some reason. Maybe because it's easy to install in a LR?

All over the USA and Scandinavia people plug their sump heaters into the mains overnight but I think this is more for ease of starting than to pre-heat the car.

You can get Passats with Websto heaters, not sure if they were factory fit, or a dealer fit.

Aux Diesel Heaters are fitted to Diesel Sharans/Alhambra/Galaxy. For some reason these cars took ages to warm, something to do with the way they were plumbed!!!. Now is the B5 Passat similar. More trouble than they were worth, make a great sound though when they work. In comp B6 warms in seconds.
Have a look at my old Alhambra Forum. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/in...3623&hl=heater
