I am looking to buy a new / guaranteed ECU for my 1999 passat 1.8 20v.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I may find this model 8D0906018F ?.

A breakers yard would be the best bet, but you will probably need to have it recoded as Immobviliser code and SW type will be different.

The only thing I can suggest is a VW exchange unit which is now 8D0 997 018EX and costs £593.03. Why do you need a replacement?

What is wrong with the current ECU, I may be able to repair it.

    Cheers, Mark

My car is not firing on 1 cylinder, and my mechanic has traced the fault back to the ECU.
He has checked sensors, plugs, cables and fuel, when he opened the cover over the ECU he found this to be full of water ?.

OK, pretty conclusive. Other than Chip and Spin I would recommend BBA Reman, they have saved a lot of ECU's for me over the years. A repair is far preferable to a new unit in your situation as a new or used unit would require programing into the car.
