    Hi

Does anyone have the 2006 + Polo GTI? How do you rate it? I have one on a y reg and am thinking of upgrading. I know there were quite a few common faults with the 1st polo gti, ie clutch/ gear box, etc. Do there seem to be any common faults with the 2006 and onwards? Has anyone lowered one yet- what kit did you use? Has anyone driven the Polo Cup ? Does anyone know the price of importing a right hand drive version?
I'l be interested to hear your thoughts.

Hi mate, I bought a 2006 polo GTI 3 door, I absolutly love this car it never fails to bring a smile to my face, you won't be unimpressed! I have had no problems apart from getting the boot to shut but I believe the post for the is slightly bent, I've ruled out crash damage and have got the 'knack' for closing it first time now so I'm not to bothered about getting it fixed. Awsome car!

Hi, yeah i went for a test drive in one and loved it. But they dont seem to be selling all that well, but then neither did the 6n2 seem to.
Did you have that one before? I have the 6n2, and the gears are now starting to get sticky. It looks like every ones had the gear box re-built. Great.

Ithink ive seen 1 polo gti 9n on the road so far since released! I guess there is probably far more in London, etc than where i am.
How long have you had yours? Is it standard? Have you lowered yours or changed the exhaust or anything else?

Thats true that they are not selling as fast as I thought, but most of the people my age going for a fast car have opted for type R's and focus/fiesta St's. I live in a small town and there are four, one cup which looks awsome.
I haven't done anything and possibly will in the future but I'm more than happy with it standard. I had a fiesta mk6 1.4 before so this is a fair jump up the food chain! You thinking of going for one?

Yeah im really tempted to go for one. I really want a Cup, and i thought about importing one, but the price is soon going to add up and i dont think i can afford it at the end of it all. I dont really know how to go about it, plus id want a right hand drive one. I asked at my local VW garage about getting a Cup imported and they couldnt help but did say that if i did then it wouldnt carry any warranty or anything and they put me off it a bit talking about how hard it would be to get parts, etc. I dont know if this is the case, or if they were just saying that to get me to buy their gti 6n!! Do you know the owner of the Cup, or is it just one you've seen about? Id love to know what they think of it. I dont know if theyl bother to market them in the Uk as the Gti's dont seem to have taken off. Cant see why though- I love them!!! Despite the gear box probs, id still buy another. I saw a set of 9n gti wheels on ebay - brand new- and i thought 'there's some1 got themselves a new toy and some new wheels for it!'. When you look at the low number of people who have looked at my thread, and only you have replied, you kinda think 'does no one else like them??! I love them all day long!

I was begining to get the feeling nobody had heard of these cars as there is not a lot of parts available for them and don't seem to be common at all!
The owner of the cup has just tarted up the car with a kit. However the reason I fell for it was the drive and the small hatchback feel, I was tempted by the golf but it's just to big for what I use a car for. Also since passing my motorbike test I was after something with a bit of go about it.
If I was you I wouldn't bother with the cup if it was going to be that much hassle, also if theres bo warrenty thats a big turn off and potentialy a money pit. I have thought with my heart instead of my head and wasted a fortune on cars/bikes. Now I'm content withis the polo and mybe in the future (mortgage depending) a chip and exhaust.
What colour would you go for? Are you keen on going used or brand new?

Sorry, im confused- is the cup in your town a real cup at 188 bhp or is it a gti with a cup kit? I couldnt see where you could get a kit for the 9n- i thought about just sticking some bits on a gti- its the front and back bumpers i luv they look kinda r32y but vw said you couldnt get kit easily. DOnt know if theres some1 making it, looked on internet. Trouble is , often the kits are produced for really popular models only, like golfs, etc. You're right though- very expensive to import a Cup and if it goes wrong you are pretty much stuffed.
Yeah i prefer the polo to the golf, a little bit different to the rest i think.
I was thinking of going for a white one, and then lowering it and putting bigger wheels on it, black wheels with a red rim, maybe some 'spoke-y' wheels, but i love that look with the subtle red trim around the edge of the wheel. I saw a golf in one of the golf + or vw mags- cant remember- and that was white with black/red wheels with a big kinda 70's starsky and hutch stripe in black down the body. Sounds weird but really worked. Trouble is white will show all the mud, etc. And im not sure if it'l be popular for re-sale? Black is very tasty but again hard to keep clean. I love them in red too though- this seems the most popular colour, and red shines up a treat with a bit of wax on wax off!
    What colour is yours?
I think they only make the cup in red though im not certain. But you are right, re-map the gti and you've got yourself a cup in bhp, but just not the body styling- that would defo be on my list of to-do's too. My fella had a TT (YUK!) for a very short while (4 months!) and had it re-mapped and it went like S**t of a shovel but you couldnt get away from the bad body design etc.
Id love a brand new gti, (that luvely new car smell!) but in the real world i dont fancy loosing all that £££ on a new one. Been looking at around 10k on clock. Trouble is i want particular features- heated seats and coming home lights feature especially, and many of them dont have both these features and all the garages tell me to go new.

It appears so! The other one driving about here is a white GTI with a cup kit on it, I've no idea where he got the kit from however his dad owns a garage so I'd imagine he has better contacts. My mate had one last year and tuned the hell out of it til it blew (remapped to over 240 bhp but never done anything else)

Mines is black with the tartan interior, I love it- deferent without being in your face. I've stuck a pic in the showroom section. The engine in this 9n3 is straight from the old golfs, audis, etc. Which suprises me that theres not alot of tuning goodies around for this car yet ( I haven't really looked yet).

It doesn't seem a popular car at all! And I at least expected some stick for not getting a golf!
