    Dear All,

    Just a quick question.

Anyone any idea where I can get a replacement roof aerial unit as mine is goosed!

Or maybe even an after market replacement if anyone has any suggestions.

    Many thanks.

Hi Lee, Thanks for the tip, had a look on ebay found what I needed.

I actually need the whole unit though not just the screw in rod. A VW aerial system will cost around £25.

Was hoping I could maybe get an internal one and bland the small hole off not sure if anyone has done this?

    Regards

The only problem with that would be that you'd have to put some galv spray to stop the hole you've made rusting..., and then either fill in the existing 1, or leave it for show???

It's probably easier and cheaper in the long run just to buy a replacement aerial from VW...

    Hey Nick,

Nice to hear from ya again....fancy you making me be sensible and buy a boring replacement one! lol

What I meant was the beesting one I had screwing into the existing Aerial base unit was snapped off by some chav! Prob because I secured it in with loctite so it couldn't be pinched...backfire!

Anyway I need to replace the screw in rod and the Aerial base unit at around £25 VW part.

What I was thinking was to have an internal, and the existing hole which the current base unit is secured through the roof could be blanked off with a cap or similar suitable thingy!

    Just a thought..prob a blonde moment though!

    Regards

    Hya Jay

I think the "big" aerial makes my car look like its radio controlled

I suppose you could get a grommet to fill in the hole, but theres always that possability of leakage into the cabin.... Moldy roof lining, ect...

I've seen a bora with the *spits* bmw shark fin aerial on... That could be another possability?

    Nick,

As always thanks for your input.

I think upon reflection I should act my age and replace the standard unit!

    Good tips as always Nick.

    Take care.
