    Hi guys,

So I've just had my HID kit delivered from HIDS-Direct. Went for the 4300k as I wanted bright as possible lights. I've also purchased a pair of W5W (501) Phillips blue vision side bulbs and H7 halogen / xenon gas filled bulbs for the dip beam from autobulbs
    vwaudiforum discount from both companies

The HID kit fitting instructions state that I need to drill a 25mm hole at the back of the headlight to fit. I'm planning on fitting next week, but before I remove the headlights I would like to have the right tools to do the job so.....

The question is...... is this drilling / hole cutting required on the Audi A4 saloon 2004, or is this the standard size of a bulb hole already? I've roughly measured the base of a std H7 halogen bulb which seems to be about 25mm so would suggest its std size?

    Any comments greatfully received

    Thanks in advance

    Hi
I think you should use the hid kit for the dip beam as they work much better with the "projector" type light units. Also they won't really work on "flash" as the light isn't instant and with our congested roads main beam is never on for more than a few seconds.

The 25mm hole is cut in the plastic cover at the back of the headlight and I used a circular bit which I think was intended for cutting holes in wood.

You need to cut the hole to allow the extra wires from the ballasts through.

Fit your halogen/xenon bulbs to your main beam.

    Dave

When i fitted mine i didnt drill a hole... what i did instead was cut a 5mm long gap around the edge of the black plastic rear cover.. that way the wires pushed up againist the seal and if for any reason it had to be romved i was not left with holes the the rear covers..

(ps.. the cover are only about £5 each to replace anyway..)

    Hi -

I have just fit mine - got them from China and they are brill, really good quality and only £38 delivered.

Fitting is easy! - i did same as rick and cut a small nick out of the edge instead of drilling a hole, mounted the ballest's using cable tie's, and away we went, whole job 40mins - well worth it!
