The lock on the tailgate of my 2003 Passat Estate does not engage, and the tailgate remains shut solely by its own weight. The car is therefore totally insecure. Can anyone help with clear instructions as to how I can remove the door trim to get at the lock mechanism etc.

there may be a few screws to remove, but then th inside cover is likely to be held on with many clips and should just pull off.

If it helps, i had to remove mine out my golf when i fitted the tow bar, it may be similar, see the how to that covers the towbar.
