    brand new lifters and valves, no wear on cam. its not a cam rattle its if the timing was too far advanced making that heavy diesel knock wereas ive got the pump timing spot on using vag come. its exact on the middle line.

    just getting n75 fault and in limp mode still got to change that and check the actuator arm on turbo

    The next step is to remove the injectors and have them flow tested. Have you had the head off this engine?

    when i got car the belt had slipped and took out 4 inlet valves. the head was rebuilt with all new parts complete apart from the injectors. basic timing and dynamic is spot on

    engine was loud as soon as it started it went quiter as i retarded the pump timing with vag com. ive got it spot on with vag com but can go further back but left it on the center line

    I was finally able to check the error codes on my Sharan (AFN 1.9 TDI '99) this weekend and found the 00550 code on the engine controller.
    With the TDIgraph and engine idling heated to 82 degrees I get a timing off the scale at 203.
    Quick question as this seems a lot, the car runs however it is very sluggish and noisy but otherwise OK. Is that possible with this timing or should I look at the N108 valve ?
    Next question, is it possible that the range on moving the injection pump able to cover this difference or is it likely the belt is off by a notch ?
    I've checked the resistance on the lift valve, which was just in scope at 116.4 ohms.

    Try moving the pump but you should really check the cam timing first.

    sorry i cant help as im new to tdi units but learning very fast.
    my car has very loud intake noise how i dont know as all pipes are on and secure.
    been working it out that the car has a very harsh coarse engine noise weras my mates is sort of soft muted niose and lovly to drive.
    getting to the point on mine i wish i kept my petrol galaxy as driving it about sounds like them old post office ldv vans they ran about in
