Sounds familiar, I had my fuse box in bits too, nightmare wasn't it!! Thanks anyway for the kind remarks.

I no longer have elsawin and have been unable to source a copy. Where did you get yours?
Other than that the car has been soldiering on fine. Just passed its MOT yesterday, only needed 2 drop links and new rear discs and pads. 2 hours later had the wing mirror smashed off when parked .

A note to all, do not buy cheap drop links off ebay. I unfortunately did and it failed within 3 months, rubber torn and perished, link rattling away. Live and learn!

If you've had the fuse box apart then I guess you found the relays! No problem on the kind remarks - thank you. It was great of you to give all the updates after you'd solved the problem.

Good news on your MOT. It's uncanny - our cars must be related! I've just had the same with my driver's wing mirror glass. Had the pleasure of paying even more than expected, due to the "blindspot" curved end - shame they didn't hit the passenger's side instead!

Just read another thread about Elsawin and these forum rules about discussing pirate software. It seems Elsawin is very expensive if bought as a dealer, or very cheap if bought as a "backup" copy on eBay. Loads still listed on eBay at the mo, but I can't vouch for any of these sellers. I guess it's down to each person whether they condone buying what's likely to be pirate software - plus gambling a few quid if that copy doesn't work. Nuff said.

A bit late if you have bought one but I have now bought two from www.wingmirrorman.co.uk at about £22 delivered. Much cheaper than the fortune VW were needing. Very quick delivery too,

    I agree about elsawin.

Brilliant tip - thanks. I'm always in favour of not paying the wacky prices dealer's charge, but didn't know about that website. Will definitely go there in future (hopefully not too often).
Delivery is also so much easier than the faff of getting to a dealer during working hours (or realising they've not left it behind the counter on Sat morning - and enduring the kids trying to flog new cars).
Wasn't a completely wasted trip to the dealer last time - I also splashed out on headlight protectors. I can vouch that it's a bad idea to use stick-on continental beam deflectors on plastic headlamps - they trap the heat and definitely craze the plastic. We used stick-ons for a couple of hours in France and the plastic's already started to craze (not horrendous so hopefully not enough to worry about on MOT). The outline to be blanked out on the protectors is also nothing like the "universal" stick-ons - far smaller, different position andlet much more light out.

Just to say thanks for the info, just joined today having had problems with wipers packing in last night. Weird simptoms, rear wiper would give one wipe when switching on front wipers, got the odd wipe to the front, thought it must be faulty switch, turns out to be the fuse that feeds the switch, no 33 10A. Thansk again for the help.

Thanks from me too!! Fuse no. 33 popped - Stupid fuse box diagram shows no reference to wipers / washers but of course once that was replaced, all back to normal.
