Passat TDI 130 Warm Start Problems

Hi,

My 2004 1.9 TDI starts fine in the morning and runs fine, however after a run and parked up for 5-10 mins is very hard to start, once it does re-start its runs fine. The car has done 100K and has been fully serviced by VW dealer. As its Christmas and will not be able to get it into the garage does anyone have any ideas on the reason.

Sounds like a classic coolant temperature sensor failure.

Do a search on here for lots of info.

Thanks to all responses, from a local paper report my wife picked up on the local Tesco garage had filled their diesel tank with unleaded the night before I filled up. It appears that when the car is warm and left for a while the petrol in the mixture evaporates and causes an airlock. The problem gradually got better and the car is now in with Volkswagon for a check and filter change at Tesco's expense.
