    Hi all,
My previous power steering query has pointed to a failure of the alternator pulley wheel, one way mechanism and as a result I need to change. Audi parts say they wont sell me the splined tool to remove this, does anyone know if this is right or is my dealership being arsey?
If so can anyone tell me where I can buy the tool?

Hi VW-Audi dealers are compeled to buy, all the special tools from the factory, to be able to
do all types of repares. This costs the dealers a lot of money every year.Sometime the tools are hung up and never used.It stands to reason they are not going to sell you a tool to do work and compete against them. This is one of the many reasons why they charge so much, got to take in expense somewhere. But there again anyone comes into the garage and asks for the lend of a tool ?????

Audi MUST sell you the tool, they have to by law, just mention the words "what about EU block exemption rules" and they should back down. For an A4 115PD TDI 2000 model year (that is a guess at your car) the tool for removing the free wheel pulley is 3310. If they won't help, contact VAG customer services or try a VW dealer. If that guess at your car is wrong, I will double check the number
