    Hi Guys,
This week i tool my VW golf (Vreg) in for a MOT and service. Before taking it in i was aware that the offside brake light wasnt working. The garage replaced the brake lights and also they said my reverse switch wasnt working so replaced that too. The next day i noticed that the passenger side brake light wasnt working and also the passenger tail light wasnt working (the brake light wasnt working at all but the tail light was a funny orange colour). I took the car back to the garage and they said the bulb needed replacing which they did. After replacing the bulb it now seems that the brake and tail lights are very tempremental. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. They have now told me that i need a new brakle light switch. I just want to make sure im not being fobbed off as i dont know alot about cars - as you can probably tell but my technical terms in this post!
Someone told me that if it was the brake light switch than i would have an error light on the dash which i havent got!
    Any advice would be great.
    Thankyou

Hi If i understand correctly, the one brake light works OK? if that is the case, then it is not the brake light switch, and an orange coloured park light bulb suggests a faulty earth.

Could be the brake light switch then.

Only £7.50 from a dealer and easy to fit. Sits behind the Brake pedal.

Even better, here is a clening guide. I did this a few times on loosing my brake lights and cruise, but I eventually replaced it and all is good.

I would try cleaning it first, just to see if it is the problem.
