    Hi

I have just bought a 1999 mk4 golf. Its fine but the central locking will not lock all the doors from the drivers side. In order to lock all the doors I have to lock the car from the passenger door which then locks all the doors. Using the key in the drivers door will only lock the drivers door. I can lock all the doors from inside the car fine.I do not have a remote locking system. How do i sort this problem out?

    Many thanks people.

A fault code read should be done on the convenience system and it will probably point to a faulty driver’s door lock unit.

I have a similar problem with my 2000 Golf, however with mine it will only let me unlock the driver's side from that door, it's ok at locking all locks.

also when I unlock the driver's door, not only does it not unlock any other doors but the interior lights don't come on either.

how do I go about doing one of those fault code reads? and any idea how to fix it?

    thanks

You need a fault code reader such as VAG-COM and this will show you need to replace that door lock unit.
