    hiya im new to this have a prob with my 2001 18 t sport
    here goes
    i had a temp sensor go down on me so replaced seemed fine for a week then light on again same fault
    water pump belts ect replaced new temp sensor AGAIN!!!
    now i can get full temp up to 90 at a stand still wen i drime this goes dowm to 50 again i know it sounds like the temp sensor but it also makes my heating go cool ?
    theres no air locks leaks or anything all i get from plugin in is
    temp sensor and coolant system malfunction i have today replaced the temp sensor again with a gen audi 1 the one from GSF has been in for 2 days but looks burnt round the brass audi dont know whats up with it any ideas ?
    car runs perfect apart from this wireing to plug is fine all checked and tested

    Hi, sounds like it may be the thermostat sticking- its under the inlet manifold and behind the dipstick. Or is the main cooling fan kicking in when u wouldn't expect it to, if so it's worth checking the temp sensor in the bottom of the radiator ( it looks the same as the one in the cylider head and controls the fan)

    Hi
    My 1.8t started over heating problem was the thermostat
    under the inlet manifold not a hard job just remove the throttle valve some bolts and pipe clips pull off and replace. There is another sensor on the state this is to warn you if the temp gos up. The unit comes in one about £45 from Euro parts "Remember to use the RED antifreeze".

    Not the best time of year
    ( Its good when you save MONEY and not go to the ******* dealers)

    thanks it is the stat but the dealers are cheeper than euro and gfs dont do the full houseing only the stat
