    Hi,

I have a 2001 "51" plate A6 2.5TDi Avant Quattro Sport. When I open the driver's door, the car does not know it has been opened, but it recognises all other doors opening, with a picture on the dash and the interior lights etc.

I had a quick look but I could not find an obvious switch, which would be activated by opening the door. How does it work?

    Regards,
    Martin

switch is inside the door lock.

each door lock has two micro switches, one triggers courtisy functions, such as the dash, and floor pan lights , the other security functions.

Other famous item that causes this fault is water in the footwell after the drain holes in the pelumn chamber become blocked
