    Im having this crazy crazy problem!
    Got a golf mk4 gt tdi AHF engine (should be bomb proof) last week it started just cutting out, no warning at all. got the old VAG and it found a fault with the ignition switch, so replaced this, no errors at all now. Sat in car and let it tick over then the engine stops! So started looking around forums and decided to replace the 109 relay! SO tonight thinking i should be in business sat in the car (didnt drive it at all) and it stopped again!
    Im lost now big time! car runs fine, sounds fine, but cuts out. When it cuts out the glow plug light comes on everytime but it doesnt record any faults in the ecu!

    Has anyone else had this??

    I would suggest the crank speed sensor next.

    where can this be found? VAG still not bringin any errors up! its mad!

    The speed sensor is on the front of the block down near the sump next to the gearbox. If your car is pre Y chassis (up to wvwzzz1JzX?999999, ? could be W, P, B or U) the sensor is a known problem and they often don’t produce a code. I have also had this with faulty injection pumps and with cheap plug in tuning boxes but that is easy to diagnose, just disconnect it if it has one.

    found the sensor, i have a copy of autodata and checked the ohms on the sensor and they seem to be ok,, guess i should change it anyway :s, still no errors and the car still loves to stall!! only problem i forsee now is trying to get the bugger off! its not a normal bolt, its not even a hex bolt, its some random bolt!! anyidea how i get it out? do you know how much the sensor is?

    Your car has the early slightly troublesome sensor, part number 038 907 319 and it costs £65.10 inc. VAT from VW. The bolt is just an M7 with a 12 point head, an M6 if I remember correctly. If you damage the bolt, it is part number N 101 045 01.The sensor is available from various other sources but I recommend you buy it from a VW dealer.
