Poor starting when hot

I have a VW Golf TDI Mark IV 1999 1.9.

It starts on the button when cold, but once the engine has warmed up and has been running for a while the engine has to be turned over a lot before it will start.

Can anyone suggest what is likely to be the fault and how it could be corrected please? Perhaps I should mention that the car has done 98,000 miles and is maintained strictly in accordance with the manufacturers specified routines

Check it with VAG com, but i would think its the 3rd injector playing up, it has a built in needle sensor that tells the engine when piston 3 is up!
