Hi, does anyone know if you can get audi parts from seat or skoda or even vw at a different price? do they all use the same part numbers. I am going to replace the thermostat on my A4 this weekend as the temp gauge hardly lifts off the cold stop. I beleive the audi part number is 050121113C for a4 1.8t 1996. am i correct in saying you should only use the pink (red coolant). thanks for any feedback.

£15.86 from VW, Audi, Seat or Skoda. Use G12+ coolant.

Thanks Crasher, you are a very knowledgable chap!! What do you think of pattern thermostats from febi, £5, i have heard you should use the G12 coolant, mine is blue at the moment, could be why the thermostat is (hopefully) stuck open. Thanks again.

Febi thermostats are fine, I stock them and one of their sales chaps is a very long term friend of mine. Your car should have G12 in it, indicated on the expansion tank. G12 has been superseded by G12+ and I use Febi G12+ equivalent 19400. Even though G12+ can mix with G11, I recommend you completely and thoroughly flush the system out including taking off all hoses and running water through them and flushing out the heater matrix. When it is completely clean, fill it with plain water and run it up. Let it cool right down and drop the water and then refill it with a 50/50 mix of G12+ and you will need about 3 litres which is two bottles. Mark the bottle to show it now contains G12+.
