I have a 1994 Mk.3 Golf GTI 16V (2.0L) and the dreaded ABS warning light is on and it needs an MOT.

The local garage says it needs a new ABS pump and I will cost a lot of money from VAG for the parts.

The computer is reporting fault code:

    00280 VALVE 2 FOR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK - N127

I had a look at the part on the car and it appears to be made by 'ATE', the only numers I can find on the part are:

    ATE 10.0447-0743.3

    0014007430012872 (bar code)

    M12844

Has anyone else experienced problems with the ABS pump on Golf of this age and how much did it cost to sort out.

    Thanks in advance

    Ollie

I am just doing one at the moment (98 VR6, same parts) and it needs a new ECU and pump, the parts are just over £1000 and cannot be bought from ATE, I tried today. You may get away with just a new ECU with that code or even a repair by BBA Reman who are in Kent even though it looks like they are only in the USA http://www.bba-reman.com/content.asp...eman_in_boston
