    Hi all i have only just signed up i need some advice i have a golf gti 1.8 turbo and want a turbo upgrade but dont know much about it any one had here had an upgrade?

    hi this depends on how much pressure you want to put on the engine if you want a pocket rocket then go for a really big one but if you want it to last then a smaller up-grade is better.

    Yeah want it to last i already had it chipped with revo but i dont want an upgrade which means i have to change lots of pipe and stuff just want it simple?

    so you are running around 220 bhp at the mo ???
    on a 1.8 turbo with a remap and pipe??

    Yeah im getting a custom made exhaust this weekend too so should gain a bit more have you up graded yours?

    i am in the trade so have got my head round a few conversions but the possibilites are endless it depends on how much cash you have and the car off the road while the job is done.
    you can change the injectors to push more fuel in for the bigger turbo unit you can wind up your original turbo ie more boost pressure..
    have you got any plans apart from the pipe and turbo ???

    Just a quick note.....

    Any changes you make to the engine / injectors / exhaust / turbo / ect would merit a new "custom remap" to take advantage of the uprated parts you've installed.

    I got loads of plans for it, i just got some A8 polished wheels i had the bottom splitters painted same colour as car want a spoiler lowering springs and dump valve next to get it looking nice and sounding good then i want to start with the power em just thought have you ever hered of a pidgion dump valve sorry (about spelling) its usually on rally cars the only way you can usually have them is with a big turbo but im sure you can get one similar with out having to up grade
