so i was very brave (or stupid) & went to a local tyre place rather than my vw dealer for 2 new tyres. once the wheels were off they showed me the pads which were really worn & i bit the bullet & got them to put new ones on. of course the warning light is now on on the dash - check pads - & despite the assurances that "the light will reset itself after a few days" it hasn't.

do i need to go to back to my dealer cap in hand & get them to reset?

    2.0se 2003 auto btw

They have fitted pads without a warning sensor on or they have not connected the new pads to the sensor.

Easy to sort, wheel off and check connection, 1 sensor on passenger front wheel.

If they have no sensor on like mine it can be turned off with a VAG COM or just trick the connection with a paper clip or piece of wire and join the connectors.

I cut the sensor off my old pads and connected the wires together and plugged it back in.

    OH! welcome to the forum

Remember the rear pads also have an indicator, check them too.
