    Hi all.
    Newbie here.

Would appreciate some advice on tyres for an S6 that am hoping to acquire in the next few days.
    Need 4 new tyres !

    S6 2001/51 plate

Any experiences here on Michelin PS2s vs Contis vs Pirellis vs Goodyears ?

Any recommended on line / national retailers ?

    Ta in advance.

    Hi,

I recently had to change all 4 tyres on my S6. It has the RS6 wheels so the tyres are slightly wider and lower profile than the standard S6 alloys require.

Anyhow, I did a lot of searching and Kwik Fit turned out to be unbeatable!

The reason for this is a promotion they run where you buy 3 tyres and you get the 4th free (or 25% discount for 4 tyres etc).

The only slight problem is the brand of tyre on promotion changes each month. I would have liked Bridgestones, but Pirelli Rosso PZeros were on offer when I needed new tyres.

I am very happy with the PZeros though, they seem quieter than the Continental Contact II's that I had on before. I would certainly recommend them.

You could try blackcircles.com They ship the tyres you order to a local tyre fitters. Kwick Fit still had them beat though. Go to the Kwik Fit website for a quote which you present to the branch for the discount.

    Hope that helps - Alex.

You can't go wrong if you pick from:
    - Michelin Pilot Sport 2
    - Michelin Pilot Primacy
    - Bridgestone Potenza

In my experience the Pirellis don't last as long it might be due to a softer rubber etc. But my mate has had Continental Contact Sport II's and says they are too noisy, while the Goodyear's can be noisy too.

Michelins have always been the top tyre of choice for me, nice progressive breakaway and good wet &dry grip, although they might wear a little quicker than others due to their softer compound

Pirellis (IMO) break away rapidly at the limit and seem (when i had them for a couple of years on an S4) to pick up punctures chronically.

Goodyears seem to be an alright lower budget buy but i would reccomend michelins every time.

    Thanks chaps.
I will probably go for 4 Michelin PS 2s.

However, having spoken to the previous private owner, there seems to be an issue with the integrity of the gearbox, and hence will be asking the local ******* to check it out (for £99 + VAT), prior to purchase.
