Hi, I have a strange problem with an A4 2000 V plate, the red boot open warning light comes on, when you check boot (open/reclose) the front electric windows go down! It also happens without the warning light ie just opening & closing boot.
    Anyone any ideas?

Well here's the answer for anyone else who suffers a similar problem,

I took the car to my local auto electrician who discovered a dislodged grommet in the boot where the loom passes through which had allowed water into the multiplug @ the control unit. Once dried out and grommet replaced all ok.

Interestingly it seems it's becoming a more common type of problem caused by high pressure water jets now being used at car washes!

Hope this is usefull for someone else.
