Touran - Speakers?

Hi all,

We are soon to be taking delivery of our new Touran, its only the S spec, base model, unfortunately, it only has speakers for the stereo in the front, no rear mounted speakers, so does anyone know if the holes where there would be rear speakers have wiring to them or not do you know?

If they are wired then I will by some from my local store and pop them in, VW are quoting some £400 or something to have speakers put in the back!!! No way, just wondered if there was a way I could do it myself.

Any help or assistance would be appreciated.

using the search button and 'speaker' 'touran' will answer your question in greater detail but basically this isn't a five minute task, there is no wiring and the holes in the doors are the least of your problems to overcome.

Yes unfortunately that would be the best option, but on the new facelift Touran they dont do that as an option, they only offer the upgraded speakers as a package and thats like £400, it just seems daft that in this day age penny pinching by not including rear speakers is just daft, surely if they were to add about a hundred quid to teh retail price no one would object!!!

Mind you the new Grand Picasso, if you have teh base model you dont even get a radio!!!!!

Will do a search and see what it says, but not looking like good news then!!!

I think you'll find that they are still a £70 option, however, I have an 06 S with no rear speakers. I found out that you can buy them through the parts dept for £11 each and fit them yourself. You need 4, 2 tweeters and 2 bass but need to run the wires yourself. I'm sure that on the Club Touran forum theres a thread that covers this. But anyway, I have found through VAG parts that they do the VW kit, consisits of the wiring loom and speakers it works out at about £90 roughly, so I will order that in the new year and do it myself, its just annjoying I am sure that all S owners would no object to paying an £100 and the speakers already being installed!!!

I miss the rear speakers as well (Touran 06 1.9 TDI). Does the fader-option appear automatically on the radio when the rear speakers are connected? The VW dealer told me that I would need to buy a new radio, because the existing radio isnt prepared for rear speakers.. I am confused!

As far as I am aware, when you connect the rear speakers, the fader automatically shows up. I think the very early radios didn't but since yours is the same as mine, it should do.
