I have just purchased a 1995 Audi 80 Quattro (2.6l v6) The air bag warning light takes about 2 minutes 15 seconds to go out after the car is started. The garage won't give me a roadworthy cert until it is fixed. Any ideas on how to fix it. The owners manual says it should go off within ten seconds.
The brake warning light is always flashing. The reservoir is full, the hydraulic fluid reservoir is also full (although, it looks like the previous owner has topped it up with atf or common hydraulic fluid, not the Audi approved mineral oil) This is also preventing me getting a cert, so any ideas as to likely cause and cure?

Link for how to bleed out the contaminated fluid, it's from the 20v site, but the v6 uses same hydraulic system. Not sure if you have pentosin brand in Oz? Also the Audi spec has changed, the new fluid is G004 000.

If you are still having problems, brake light is triggered by fluid levels and low hydraulic pressure. This could be a worn pas pump, leaking 'bomb' (check valve) or leaking servo. So go for the tests here:

    http://20v.org/brakprob.htm

Note the servo test needs to be done before the bomb is condemned as faulty.

I don't know much about the airbag, I guess the controller could be checked for fault codes, the dealer should be able to do this or get hold of Vag - com?
