When the ignition is turned on the LCD display reads "SERVICE!" and within seconds the whole display goes off showing a black screen. This warning is there because it was not reset by a back street service man prior to me buying this car.

Also, upon applying the foot brake the "you need new brake pads" icon shows. This was OK but has just kicked off. The brake pads are only a few thousand miles old. And I don't use the brakes hard.

This black screen started last weekend for the first time. Previously the "SERVICE!" warning was there only at start up and then disappeared.

    Any thoughts??

HI, I'M BACK TO SAY THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME FIND THE ANSWER. I READ ELSEWHERE THAT THERE IS A SWITCH UNDER THE INDICATOR STORK AND I HAD TURNED IT OFF UNWHITTINGLY.

    CHEERS!
