My 2003 A4 Quattro has poor traction on snow. I acquired the car last year and our first snow just has fallen here on Vancouver Island, BC Canada. The tyres look as if they are summer tyres - low profile and few side channels on the tread, which has only a few mm. left ( its too cold to go outside now and measure/check the tyre specs etc.!!).
Any recommendations for good winter tyres for this model?

Thanks for this. We do get Continental tyres here - I'll check on availability of this pattern. (Others that are mentioned in searches that I have done are Bridgestone ' Blizzak" and Michelin winter snow and ice tyres - anyone have any comments on these? )

You can change the tyres if you wish, but here in England if you turn the ESP off (it may be called something different over there!), you can get more traction because the electronics are not kicking in 24-7.

Cheers, Paul. Yep, I've also got ESP and I'll try going without it on the way home today. I've had a quote on a set of tyres with a name I've never heard of- "KUMO" - snow and ice - I'm assured that they have a new silicon treatment that keep the rubber soft even in colder temps. and that they will be great ( so says the vendor, a reputable tyre shop) Anyone heard of these?
