  1. '99 V plate Stereo question (rear amplified or not )

Hi everyone, i just have a question i wondered if someone could help me with.

I have a 1999 V plate Audi A4 1.9TDI which currently has the standard concert tape player/radio in it....but i have been given a pioneer mp3 head unit from a friend and would like to fit it....

I have ordered the fascia from halfords, no problem. But the halfords guy tells me that i need to be very careful when choosing the wiring harness as if choose the wrong one i can burn out the wiring loom of the car and it'll cost a fortune to repair...i'm pretty sure i have rear amplified speakers but how do i know if the front are too ? i have no BOSE markings anywhere on the stereo or speakers . its all v confusing, i just wanna know which wiring kit to buy from halfords...the guy from there sad i should look at the back of the stereo and see if the speaker wires all go into 1 block or not and that will tell me...Would someone be able to look at the pics i have taken and tell me what they think i have please...or what they think i need ? any help would be greatly appreciated... Does anyone know what the brown block connector next to the aerial is too ?

The loom has front speaker wiring in it, so you do NOT have a Bose system. (The speaker connections are in the middle brown block)

The brown connector next to the aerial, is an additional earth for the cd changer loom. Without it connected you can get some strange audio faults on CD (if you have one connected)

Yes that's correct. The fronts are wired as a stereo pair, you don't need to worry about crosovers etc, they are already wired in.

I'm assuming you have the pre-amp output from the Pioneer plugged into the adapter, or does it use the speaker feeds. Another photo might help?

sorry Froggy, not sure what you mean by the preamp. i think the only thing i dont have plugged into anything now is the red connector block from the picture because it would not fit the connector on the new wiring harness.

Ah well that's your problem. The rear speakers are fed via the cars amp from that red plug. sounds like they sold you a incorrect adapter.

HI guys just got my car back today and installed a new bluetooth stereo with built in hands free, I got it in ALDI. Thing is there was only sockets for the brown block and the black block, none for the red block or the other yellow cluster block. I attached antenna, and the main earth, as well as the hands free microphone. It seems to be working fine, except it wont store any of the radio stations I vaguely remember something about changing wires to solve this problem, any ideas. Also reading your comments above I am a bit worried about burning out the loom is this possible, have a wired things up wrong? 98 A4 1.9tdi
