hi just wondering if anyone has bought and successfully used a vag com from here? to me they seem too cheap (£17 or less) for a piece of equipment that is so complicated, although i havent looked anywhere else!!

also would these units be able to turn on miles to empty, lit needles and auto windows as this is the first thing id want to use it for.

any light on this would be appreciated before i part with my cash

You will not buy Vag Com just a lead with interface, if you want a licence to use it its $99 and will save you many times that in the first year.

Please look at this page. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/vag-functions.html

It compares the shareware version that you would get with the eBay cable to the full version of the program.

The chart shows that you can recode modules. I do not know your car and I do not know what modules you have in the car. I cannot predict whether or not your will be able to set all of those features in your car. If they are available as options, then you should be able to do it.

Remember, I'm not on your side of the pond so without more detail, all I can do is make guesses.

If your only reason to buy VAG-COM is to set these features, why not buy a buddy with VAG-COM a couple beers and let him code your car the way you want it?

Further to what Bruce says, if they claim the software is included, they are breaking the law and Bruce will (hopefully) take them down, Rambo stylie if you provide him the link

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

Indeed they are breaking the copyright laws. We do send our barking dogs after them when they do this. Unfortunately, these eBay sellers will shut down the current site only to pop up in a new place a few days later. The real problem for us is getting at the ones who actually make the stuff that is illegal. The governments of some of those nations will not assist in stopping the pirates in their country. Simply put, the governments want the foreign money that the pirates bring to their country.

Now, that is not to say that some of these eBay sellers are not legit. Many are. They make aftermarket wires that are compatible with older versions of VAG-COM. They are not supposed to distribute our software. They do need to provide the drivers for their hardware. They need to provide support for their hardware. We can not and will not provide any support for those running the eBay wires and the shareware software. Although, I've already spent a bunch of time supporting this thread. There is a cost to that too!
