Always sorted mine!!! Was quite good fun too - just have to find a long straight road without much traffic on!
We put it down to contaminated plates that needed cleaning.

More likely glazed than contaminated mate. Oil/grease contamination tends to soak into the plate rather well being a porus material.
The reason why scoobys have a habit of this, is because glazing is caused by over heating..... something scooby drivers are good at!
I'm sure the method you describe works ok at the time... but you are shortening the life of the plate, with racing starts causing the problem in the first place.

well if its knackered and the only way to clean the face to stop the vibes is to drop the clutch then its the only answer!? Apart from a new clutch and fly.

Agreed. All i was saying is that its not a clutch fault that causes the problem in the first place, its driving style

Hi, i suggest you guys have a diagnostic done, as in some cases, the engine active mounts will shake hard when defective and throw a code....Seen that on a few PD 130 and my a4 did it once or twice, but its only ocassionally ! If its constant judder, regardless with engine hot or cold, then its the DMF.

Thats interesting. Mine only judders when cold and not always... only sometimes; haven't found a pattern yet. What codes were you getting Adam? I might get mine diagnosed.

As a totally isolated fault I had my 'oil filled, electronically controlled' engine mount replaced a few months back. I didn't sense any problem but when Audi serviced the car they plugged the computer in and there was a fault code there.

I have had my gear box removed and diagnosed. The Flywheel seemed to be the culprit. Through some sever arguing I managed to get it replaced on the used car warranty I have on the car (Not an Audi one) The whole car drives really nicely now.

    Hi All, Audi A4 1.9tdi 2001 100bhp

Picked it up last weekend and it's been fine but when stuck in stop start traffic, after about 15 minutes of moving slowly i started to get this clutch judder. It appears to be only after slow driving and is gone again the next morning. It's going back on Saturday anyway to have the front discs changed. What is the most likely culprit so I can get them to have a look at that as well? Also, if I have to pay for it what's the likely cost?

    Cheers for your help
    Dan

Likely to be the clutch friction lining is worn bud - it needs changing, and quick, before it damages the dual mass flywheel it runs on which is a whole heap more dosh (if youre paying for it....?)
As for cost - where from? Dealers or independant?

thanks for that, it would be an independent. Don't suppose you have an average price? What's involved labour and parts wise?
