    Hi,
I'm a newbie to this forum. 6 months ago I have only had american cars. Now I have an 2005 Toureg, and just bought a used 2006 Passat. I bought it from a General Motors dealership. It only had 1 key. I have read several thread on how to program a second key, so I may have missed what I needed but here goes.

The one key I have does not have the flip blade like my t-reg does. The whole key goes into dash and you push to start. I have seen several keys on ebay. If I get one of the keys how can I program it (If I can)? The car had no manual with it put someone did leave a note saying 06 VW Passat Keypad Security code and has a 5 digit code.

    Thanks

The slide out key will need to be cut for your locks, but I think coding a new key should be inexpensive from a dealer - Ring around a few dealers and VW specialists to see if you can get a feel for cost. I think it used to be a sequence of key presses for a new key, but I don't know if that's changed.

My experience? Well, I've had a full lock set (both keys, plus programming) and that was 4 hours work and a new ECU at the dealership - not cheap, I'll add, either (the dealer paid as it was them that lost my key ) - This, however, is extreme and shouldn't apply in your case
