The slide out key will need to be cut for your locks, but I think coding a new key should be inexpensive from a dealer - Ring around a few dealers and VW specialists to see if you can get a feel for cost. I think it used to be a sequence of key presses for a new key, but I don't know if that's changed.
My experience? Well, I've had a full lock set (both keys, plus programming) and that was 4 hours work and a new ECU at the dealership - not cheap, I'll add, either (the dealer paid as it was them that lost my key
) - This, however, is extreme and shouldn't apply in your case
