Does anyone have any first hand experience and recommendations for one of the HID headlight conversion kits now available for an Audi A6 (C5)?

I have the projector headlamps and want to fit HID's/Xenons - but with such a wide range and huge variation in price, I'm looking for some first-hand experience and recommendations.

    Thanks!

I'm running a hid conversion kit on my A6, much better than standard lights. Had originally bought my kit for my old vectra from http://www.hids4u.co.uk/ guys were very helpful.
Just purchased a new set of bulbs for the pilot kit (my projector lens headlamps are H1 for normal dipped beam) and fitted the kit to the A6, very happy. Six of my friends have bought kits from this company and so far so good, no-one has had any issues with the kits or the company.

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for the info. You've got H1's on an A6? My projectors are apparently (according to Osram H7's).

Thanks for the recommendation - I'll take a closer look.

I would go for a very bright 55W HID kit, rather than the old 35W version.

Other than that, just go for the cheapest kit available.

Nowadays they are all virtually identical in design, have at least a years guarantee, and in the unlikely event that a part does fail, cheaper to replace. (i have bought whole kits for the price of a more expensive ballast)

Dont go higher than 6000k colour, which is the blue/white 'new car' colour, and 4300k are the brightest (white with tiny bit of yellow)

I have not tried this USA ebay seller, but he is offering a cheap 55W kit:

"DO you want your car to be most shining toy and extreme dazzled monster in order to blind people?"

Aye, that sounds like just what I'm after. I love it when the people driving towards me at high speed can't see, I just love it.

    LOL..

Thanks Ini... I've also seen that store, does anyone have any personal experience which is what I'm really after. hids4u seem *really* expensive and the forum sponsors HIDdirect only do 35W kits.

Undercover: The pic on the front page just blinded me... & it's only a photo!

I won't be doing the high-intensities or the full beams, just the projector dipped beams.

Any real-world comparisons with 4300K and 6000K versions? Come on guys, must be some people who have converted?

The 4300k looks white, and the 6000k (which i have) is a very slight bluer white tinge.

The projector lens is the part that produces the coloured flashes when a 'new' car with projectors goes past you.

I would go for 6000k (new BMW,Merc's AUDI etc)

start up an e-mail asking for info etc - even ask if hids4u offer forum discounts etc, you will almost always get some sort of discount........but i never said that, right. even say you've heard good things about there kit but the price is putting you off. Most companies, as I've found, if they want your business will sort out a deal for you.

Actually I just got a pair of Philips Vision Plus +50% bulbs for my dipped projectors, and they really did make an excellent difference. I haven't gone to a full HID kit, mainly due to the fact I'm a cheapskate, but I really could tell the difference with these - and they only cost a tenner.
