Would try an oil and filter change on the box.

They like the oil changed every 40K max. , and if you change the filter you get more out.

My box was a little reluctant to change gear, so changed it and it was instantly changed and got even better over the next 500 miles.

Audi will tell you the box is sealed for life, as they like selling new ones !

Also make sure you use the genuine oil. ZF who make the box do not recommend Dextron.

Make sure it really is the gearbox before you dive in to get it sorted.

I had a similar problem (on a multitronic) and thought the gearbox was shot, but it turns out to be an engine problem. The engine and gearbox electronics talk to each other and if the engine is saying there isn't enough power available the gearbox just stays stuck in a low gear.

Does the car seem a bit gut-less when it won't change up? If so, suspect the engine not the box. If you are showing a MAF fault then it's a good idea to either change it, clean it or run without it briefly to see if the gearbox starts to behave like normal.

Finally got the car into AUDI they have refused to change the oil in the gearbox as they claim that its sealed for life and doesnt need changing. So now ive brought it to a local mechanic who is going to do the MAP sensor and gear oil. Fingers Crossed

Sorry i forgot to ans your queston. The car responds great to hard acceleration and gear changes are smooth, the main prob is when in traffic and travelling under 20mph you feel a heavy gear change and gear info bar "PRND1234" goes solid red and the car stays in that gear until you re start the engine.

sealed for life and doesnt need changing
Rubbish! I did one yesterday. Remove the oil pan to drop the oil and change the filter. Refilling requires a pump system.
