Anybody know where I can get cruise control fitted - my local (Southampton) VW dealer won't touch it?? and the nearest I can find on the web is Biscester and will be about £350

I've seen the do it yourself links on the web but unfortunatley neither have the time or the inclination to attempt

    Cheers

    Hi,

Had CC fitted to my last VW group car by a guy in Fareham. He did an excellent job and used all genuine VW parts. The job is quite complex, involving removing the steering wheel (and air-bag) to replace the indicator stalk, a bit of wiring and also going into VAG.COM software to open up the CC functionality on the ECU.

That being said the results were fantastic and the car remained stock which was good.

I can pass on his details if you like, just let me know, highly recommended though.

    Andy

I'm about to do this myself, I've read the comprehensive manual and decided I may give it a go. Wish me luck!

    Good Luck .

A couple of basic things -

Remove the battery -ve lead before you start.
Make sure you have the right size screwdriver to get the airbag off.
You need a splined tool to get the steering wheel off.
Mark the steering wheel position before you remove it.
Make sure you allow enough slack in the cable to allow for steering wheel adjustment.

Let us know how you get on.
