Hi guys. Long time no trouble. I recently encountered the P018300 - Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit High Intermittent issue, turned out to be a broken wire on connector. I removed connector and soldered new wire to connector and then soldered back into the harness with shrink tube to cover. I also replaced the sensor and fault has now gone but car will still randomly stall when starting but always starts. So to be precise when I push key to start, engine starts then cuts out, I’ll push key to start again and all is good. Any ideas what could be the causing this? Car has recently had a new battery installed and has been rock solid since I bought it almost 10 years ago.
    Thanks guys.

Soldering is forbidden by VW, it is prone to fatigue failure.

The staring problem is common on the type 36 and will be the ignition switch 3C0 905 843 E at £110.16 and is a plug and play part. It would be worthwhile getting a full car code scan carried out first.
