I had the ECM out of my 2012 3.0 Allroad a couple of months back and since then the Cruise Control hasn't been working and I have been getting an error 'U111200 - Function limitation due to implausible message '.

Googling away with the error I found someone else with the same issue and they found that driving with their OBDEleven dongle plugged in enabled the error to be cleared and for the cruise control to work, however as soon as they unplug the dongle the error would return and cruise control would stop.

During their various attempts to resolve the problem, one suggestion was to check the main connections to the ECM, which they did and that cured the problem for them, they no longer needed the dongle plugged in.

I had exactly the same issue, the error could be cleared down and then with the dongle plugged in the cruise control would work fine and no errors. If didn't seem to matter what dongle was plugged in either.

The error started after the ECM had been pulled out, so I am assuming that it is a connection issue, but am not sure where to start.

I have tried unplugging the ECM again, using contact cleaner on the terminals but this just seems to have made the issue more permanent now so I can't clear it down.

Here is scan data from OBDEleven for the code:-

You can download everything that Audi publish for the car from erWin for €7 an hour. I recommend an erWin virgin pays the €30 day rate so they can get used to how it works and take their time. You will need a print to pdf function.

    Hi,

Thanks, so similar to the Toyota Techdoc system.

Have you come across similar issues?
    Cheers,

Is there a diagnostics section on Erwin when you can check/cross reference error codes? Toyota have very detailed diagnostic steps
    Cheers,

To do VAG diagnostics, you use the erWin system to buy tokens that allow you access to the elSaPro system AKA ODIS. The catch is the interface is £1300 and gaining security clearance and Group Retail Portal membership is arduous and complex plus you need to be a registered VAG repairer and have a VAT number.

Ok, so there is no way to just look up diagnostic data? With Toyota you get diagnostic steps using either a paper clip or a computer and then list of error codes, symptoms cross referenced with error codes and then detailed disgnostic steps. The paperclip/flash code system still works with even the very latest models. Additionally each disgnostic section gives ECU terminal details and circuit diagrams for each section.

The Erwin system doesn't exactly make it is easy.
    Cheers,
    Julian

All you can do is read the codes, preferably with VCDS, and then look them up. VAG went from paper codes to fully computerised starting around 2002 under what they call Guided Fault Finding is ODIS, not easy even when you have full ODIS access as it is €10 an hour to use it and is THE worst piece of software I have ever had the misfortune to use, slow, clunky and not intuitive.

No, only by being logged into ODIS. I hate these U1112 and U1122 codes, they are so vague and often in ODIS it just asks if this can be attributed to a customer complaint and then says basically ignore it. These messing messages codes are becoming a big problem with the Golf 7 and often it is the radar sensor.
