Hi all, I am in the process of rebuilding my 06A/AUM engine & was wondering, what the ideal hp increase, I can safely go up to on a dyno remap?
The engine upgrades I'm doing consist of.......
Full head rebuild, with all new parts (excluding camshafts) valve seats recut/ ported & polished, new vvc tensioner & chain, twin iridium plugs,R8 coil packs, re'manufactured OEM 500cc injectors, high pressure fuel pump, K04 001 turbo, bigger front and center intercooler & pipe work, new N75 & dump valve's, forged con rods, new OEM pistons and rings, (on original crankshaft fully balanced & polished) new main & big end shell bearings & thrustwashers, new oil pump/chain & pick up strainer pipe, all new seals & gaskets, new flywheel & clutch conversion kit, s/s thermostat housing & stat, Continental timing belt kit(with bartec manual tensioner kit), all new auxiliary belt & pulleys, 120amp alternator, new 02 sensors, cam position sensor, crank Angle sensor, coolant temp sensor, all new oil breather pipe kit, Ram Air induction kit, full S/S 3.1/2" Twin exit sports exhaust ( including downpipe & decat pipe).
Obviously remap will come after a full running in process, which is when I'll install injectors, fuel pump, turbo & exhaust system.
Any knowledgeable advice & Dyno remapping recommendations welcome
Many thanks for reading and input in advance greatly appreciated 👍 😊

A suitable remap could see that spec at 250ps safely, any more than that will be too much for front wheel drive and a 02J box.

Hi crasher thanks for your response, 👍 that's what I was thinking as you say due to being fwd and getting the power to the black top, though never considered the gearbox, advise very much appreciated 👍😊

My daily for the last 18 years has been a 2003 Octavia VRS which uses the AUQ code 1.8T and this is identical to the AUM Golf 4 in every single part EXCEPT the programing of the ECU which is tuned for 180PS. Unlike this engines application in the Golf 4 Anniversary, A3, Bora, Cupra, TT etc, it is fitted with the 02J 5 speed box like the AUM Golf 4 and it can JUST cope clutch wise. Take this to stage 1 APR like mine was and the clutch slips very easily so I converted it to a Bora 1.8T 02M box which has a much larger clutch and then went APR stage 2 but at that point it has trouble getting the power on the ground via 225/40 18's, making me wish I had fitted a Quaife ATBD when I rebuilt the 02M box as when I fitted it, it sounded like a coffee grinder! A six speed conversion on yours is the same as mine and is a LOT of work needing expensive difficult to find parts.
