Hello ladies and gentlemen. I've just had the DPF cleaned of ash on my B8 2.0 (DFGA) and the mobile mechanic tells me that it won't regen because sensor 1 bank 1 is malfunctioning. He checked through his VCDS and it was telling him it's at around 800 degrees whereas the rest are at 150-200. However I've tried disonnecting the 3 temp sensors that are at the firewall near to the battery and they turn out to be sensors 2,3 and 4 according to the carista dongle and Car Scanner app that I'm using (sensor 1 is showing at steady 1000 degrees on that). I can't, for the life of me, find where sensor 1 is. Any help?

    Thank you

What is the VIN? EGT 1 is under the turbo before the turbine inlet.

Thanks for that Crasher. Is it a job that I could do myself you think? I do my own oil changes, change brakes myself, changed my heater core few months ago.

And where could I find a sensor as well.

    Much appreciated

EGT sensor, latest part number 04L 906 088 HT and has a black harness plug, you need a 17mm deep reach slotted socket.

Thanks so much Crasher for your response, I've ordered the part but I can't identify where it plugs in. I've tested all 3 plugs at the firewall (in the picture) and they correspond to sensors 2-4 in my car scanner app. I've uploaded a screenshot from the app. Whenever I disconnect one of the sensors at the firewall the corresponding sensor in the app will malfunction and will give me a minus value. However sensor 1 will always remain steady at 1000 degrees.

I've highlighted in another picture which sensor the plugs go to. I can't find where sensor 1 is or where it plugs into.

The DPF cleaner guy checked through VCDS and it came up differently for him. He had:
    Sensor 0: 255
    Sensor 1: 877
    Sensor 2: 179
    Sensor 3: 160

I've uploaded a picture of his notes too

Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

It is sensor 1, black plug and right under the inlet to the turbo, impossible to see and only detectable by feel, get your fingers out and feel under under the curve for the warm inlet…
