In Sept 2019 I replaced the leaking pressure regulator on my A4 B5. See post 15 onwards here Question What size pipes on petrol pump? - Page 2

As mentioned in that link, the Audi FPR failed just after I had the same problem with our Alfa 33's FPR, which I replaced with a Malpassi AIR007 adjustable FPR supplied by jp4mance on Ebay UK, who assured me it was suitable for petrol containing alcohol. which is 5% or 10% in France.

The Alfa's FPR just failed, not only leaking fuel directly into the inlet manifold, but shedding rubber particles which seem to be blocking the injectors. The image shows the underside, which is in contact with the petrol, and the light patches are where rubber has flaked off. The other side is red rubber, which I think was bonded on to the black, but partly separated, with a small hole in it.

Just over 6 years does not seem to me to be much of a life for this item, as the original parts seem to have lasted 25 years in the Alfa and 23 in the Audi. I bought the Alfa in 2010 and the Audi in 2016, so I know they were not changed between then and 2019.

I am now concerned that the Audi FPR will be similarly damaged, so have decided to replace it rather than take a chance.

I have seen a few FPR’s damaged by E10, it should not be used on anything that isn’t specifically approved for its use. Ethanol for fuel from food stocks… more enviro ******** and immoral.
