REPLACING COMFORT UNIT UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT (MINE HAS FAILED) - How do you fit and re-code another used unit and are their any places about offering drive in drive out server for this if it is too tricky to do at home?

the door locks control from the key fob on my A6 C5 has been a bit of an issue since I acquired the car 6 months ago and had the driver's door window motor replaced under warranty - they haven't worked properly since.

recently they have packed up completely (checked with both keys, checked fob batteries are okay)

I am back to using physical key for entry after the buttons on the fob, and the buttons inside on the driver's door became intermittant.

Any tips or pointers to forums that might help would be useful - I'm even wondering if its worth putting the old drivers door window motor back in as it all started going wrong after replacing that (could be a coincidence of course)

Its possibly the central locking control unit - so I'm also looking for any specialists in the south (England & Wales) that might offer a drive in drive out replacement for such units if it needs re-coding etc.

    Thanks Matt S

It wasn't soaking wet under there but it was damp from the same issue my mk.1 Superb had - drain wells up front being clogged and water backing up and being dumped in the under seat ventilation.

It was the first thing I cleaned out when I bought the A6 earlier this year so its 'historic damp' but I've got it dried out now both sides too, wasn't too bad compared to my Skoda I caught just in time but took ages to dry out

Yes I checked the 'comfort module' (door window and central locking controller)

There was evidence of a shorted/burnt track on it that wasn't possible to solder repair - so looks like I'll need a new one.

I have found a few to buy salvaged between £50-£150 but wondering what is involved coding the key to it when I do get replacement.

Are there any places recommended to replace/code the said unit and I could see if I can do a drive in drive out repair as I have left the seat out until its sorted.

The car is obviously fine just needs the doors locking manually for the time being.

Also the left hand passenger window has stopped working so that to sort after this too - so I'll be looking for a forum entry on "removal of door cards shortly" too. Driver's side window was done with a new motor by a garage under warranty - or so I though it was - but when I sent the bill back to the place I bought it from they didn't honor the £90 labour bill they originally said they would (so I wish I'd done that one myself now too as I'd be £90 better off - which would be just enough to get myself another comfort module above.

So I got a replacement Comfort Module - plugged it in and for a while the interior central locking open & close buttons on the driver's dooreven worked.

my remote control lock buttons on the keys didn't work - (which I was expecting after fitting a new comfort module) and the re-coding the keys using both keys in the ignition and driver's door didn't work either, shortly after I tested actuation of the central locking from the rear hatch.

Now I am back to exactly how it was on the old control module - as the interior cental locking 'open' button doesn't work, neither do the fobs. I have to lock and unlock from the driver's door with physical key, which only manually opens that door. Then when turning on the ignition you usually get an alarm sound, but after starting the car everything else functions normally. Just the 3 other doors have to be unlocked and opened by pulling the release levers twice. Boot only opens and locks with the key.

Any ideas what I can try or look into next?
By-the-way does anyone know the location of the antenna wire for the remote central locking as I could investigate that.
I have checked all fuses related to central locking and they are fine.

    Thanks Matt S
